Fr. Dr. Emefiena Ezeani
Biography

Politics, Education & Religion shape every society – Africa needs Cooperative Democracy, not party democracy.

Emefiena Ezeani is the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences of Peter University. He is a Catholic priest, writer, and social analyst, as well as a lecturer in Political Science; Cooperative Collegial Democracy; Leadership, Ethics and Development; and Essentials in Igbo Religion and Culture. He has a keen interest in African affairs, International Relations, Cooperative Democracy, Social Justice and Biodiversity, and devotes time to the cause of promoting endangered languages. For him, Politics, Education and Religion are three primary factors that shape any society. He received his two postgraduate degrees (PhDs) in Social Policy and Professional Studies, (University of Hull, United Kingdom), specialising in Comparative Politics - Cooperative and Competitive Democracies, and in Education (University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria), specialising in Philosophy of Education. He is the author of IQUISM: Intelligent Questioning as African Liberation Philosophy; A Philosophy of Education for African Nations: Recovering from the Negative Effects of Colonial Education; Cooperative Collegial Democracy for Africa and Multi-Ethnic Societies - Democracy without Tears; and In Biafra Africa Died – The Untold Story of Africa’s Greatest Tragedy which is considered to be the most comprehensive and scholarly research narrative on what has been described by some scholars as “the worst crime against humanity since World War II” – the Nigeria-Biafra War. Emefiena calls on Africans to jettison party democracy, insisting that if Africa fails to dismantle the Western party model, the Western party democracy will ultimately destroy Africa completely. Emefiena’s political philosophy, Cooperative Collegial Democracy, propounded primarily for African states and other multi-ethnic societies, is a major intellectual political input in the field of Political Science, as well as a significant scholarly contribution to African Political Studies, and World Politics. He is endowed with the following pedagogical qualities:
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Highly organised and effective time management skills
• Excellent I.T. skills
• Very strong interpersonal skills
• Good problem solving and analytical skills
• Creative
• Getting students to think critically
• Ability to work under pressure
